We Are NAKSHEI

NAKSHEI started with a feeling we could never quite find in clothing.

Fashion in India often felt like it was asking us to choose sides. On one hand, there was global streetwear that looked good but often felt emotionally disconnected, graphics inspired by places, references, and experiences that never really felt like ours. On the other, there was “Indian” fashion that tried so hard to communicate culture that it stopped feeling wearable. Too loud, too obvious, too much like identity packaged as a souvenir.

Somewhere in between, there was a gap.

Because modern Indian identity is layered. You can love oversized silhouettes and old Hindi songs. Vintage Formula 1 and late-night chai. Dry humour, grainy cafés, city nostalgia, indie playlists, and Hindi words that somehow explain emotions better than entire paragraphs. You can care about where you come from without wanting to wear it loudly. You can miss a city while still living in it.

We started NAKSHEI for people who live in that in-between.

People who want clothing that feels rooted without feeling forced. Stylish without feeling emotionally empty. Clothes that look good first, but stay with you because they mean something.

NAKSHEI (नक्शेई) means to leave a mark. That idea stayed with us because the best things in life usually do. A city. A memory. A person. A feeling you cannot fully explain.

We believe clothes say something before we do. Sometimes they say where you're from. Sometimes what you miss. Sometimes they quietly express a feeling you never had words for.

That is why a Delhi graphic might feel strangely personal. Why a Bombay tee makes someone smile because they simply get it. Why a Hindi word can suddenly feel heavier than expected.

At the heart of it, NAKSHEI exists because we were tired of choosing between looking cool and feeling connected.

Right now, we are starting small, as a print-on-demand brand. No giant warehouses. No pretending to be bigger than we are. Just an honest attempt to build something meaningful, one piece at a time.

But we dream far beyond that.
